Research from the UNT reported that a ban on texting while driving doesn’t necessarily reduce car accidents. The research was based on data from HLDI by a comparison crash statistic prior and after a texting laws were enacted 4 states. California, Louisiana, Minnesota and Washington were the 4 states compared in the research.
While the research shows evidence that the ban of texting didn’t necessarily reduce the number of car crashes the statistics could be skewed. Because of the ban, there are less motorist’s that would admit they were text messaging while they were driving because it’s illegal and can obviously result in negligence and liability. Many researchers believe the number of crashes due to text messaging could be much larger than what the statistics show.

Snowy Conditions Causing More Accidents
Hazardous weather conditions are a major cause of accidents throughout the United States. Due to recent snow storms on the East Coast, accidents are on the rise. Snowy road conditions along with negligent drivers can be a dangerous combination. The National Weather Service continues to predict furious snow conditions throughout the region causing slippery roads and minimized visibility.
State Police and other authorities are warning motorist to stay off the roads and highways and in many cases towns and cities are in a state of emergency. While some motorists can’t avoid driving in these snowy conditions it’s highly recommended you allow extra time to get to your final destination.
It is advised that if you have to travel in these conditions that you should operate your vehicle in a safe manner by slowing down, staying off of cell phones and allowing plenty of space between other cars on the road. While many motorists will use caution when driving in the snow others are negligent and as a result accidents happen.
If you have been involved in a car accident due to the negligence of another person, regardless of road conditions, you have the right to seek fair compensation for damages. During the winter months the insurance industry is in full swing. They are backed by some of the best defense attorneys ready to try to settle for pennies on the dollar. In some cases even if negligence is proven the insurance company will try to fight for less compensation and as a result will hold up the case from settling. This is a tactic that many companies will use in hopes the plaintiff will settle for less than the fair value of their case.
While not always the first option more plaintiffs are now using lawsuit funding as a way to pay their bills until their case settles or goes to court. A lawsuit cash advance is ideal for those plaintiffs that need immediate financial help and not willing to settle for less. If you have been recently involved in a motor vehicle accident caused by severe weather conditions and negligence of another driver, contact LawLeaf today for a free lawsuit cash advance consultation.
