A man was charged with vehicular manslaughter, negligence along with other charges for a fatal auto accident on the Long Island Expressway. The accident happened early Sunday morning and the investigation is still ongoing.

According to the latest police the fatal accident happened eastbound on the Long Island Expressway near Jamaica, Queens. A man driving a Mitsubishi Galant collided into a driver of a Lincoln Town Car. Upon impact the Town Car was engulfed in flames.

The driver of the Lincoln was immediately knocked unconscious. When emergency units arrived the driver was unresponsive to EMS personnel. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Galant, a 28 year-old male, was arrested and taken to Elmhurst Hospital located in Queens, NY. The man is still listed in critical condition.

2 Injured outside of Mount Vernon

A multicar accident on northbound RT 1, south of Mount Vernon, tied up traffic and sent two people to the hospital. The extent of the injuries is still unknown.

The accident was reported just after 9 at Route 1 just south of Mount Vernon, VA.

Initial reports said that two vehicles, a Ford Explorer and SUV, were involved in an accident. When units showed up to the scene of the accident, there was one other vehicle which was also involved in the incident.

Route 1 was closed in both directions for about 30 minutes. After the northbound lanes were cleared, traffic moved slowly for about an hour. One witness said that she saw the tail end of the accident and witnessed the third vehicle colliding into the Ford Explorer.

While the extent of the injuries is still unknown they are being reported as non life threatening. The investigation is ongoing and there are no further details available at this time.

Minor Injuries Reported after Accident

An accident involving at least four vehicles tied up traffic on US Route 1 near Augusta. The incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. There were three people that were transported to the hospital but reports indicate no injuries were life threatening.

A two car collision between Holland Avenue and Brady Avenue sends 1 motorist to the hospital with severe injuries. According to reports, an SUV and truck crashed into each other at the intersection of Brady and Holland. Drivers faced delays on I-64 (Hampton Roads Beltway) just outside of Chesapeake, Virginia due to an overturned vehicle. The east right lane was closed for more than an hour to clear the vehicle and debris from the side of the road. The accident caused major delays on both sides coming into and out of the city.

According to the most recent report the crash was so forceful that it turned one vehicle onto its side. A car with two occupants was allegedly speeding down interstate 64 when the vehicle spun out of control, hit another vehicle before flipping.

The driver of the Town and Country was treated at the scene of the accident with a sprained wrist.

Accident in Grand Rapids

A 22-year-old man from Grand Rapids, MI suffered injuries in a crash on U.S. 131 Tuesday Morning. His vehicle was struck around a half a mile before exits 86A-B G R Ford Highway I-196. The names of those individuals involved in the accident have not yet been released.

According to reports, a man driving 2008 Ford Taurus was driving in the right lane about to merge off of U.S. 131 when a driver of a semi-truck merged into his lane and crashed into the driver’s side of his vehicle. The car spun out of control before the crashing into the right barrier wall on U.S. 131.

The driver of the Semi truck said when he was merging into the right lane he didn’t see the vehicle coming up on the right side of the truck. The man driving the Taurus was Blodgett Hospital where he was hospitalized for minor injuries. The man driving the semi truck was not injured in the crash.

This was the second accident on U.S. 131 in as many days. An accident which happened on Monday sent several people to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. Police are still investigating the accident and asking for anyone who witnessed the accident to call.

Accident in San Bernardino

A resident of San Bernardino suffered multiple fractures in an auto accident on Monday. A man who was driving a Toyota Camry was rear ended by another motorist at a stop light at the cross section of West 5th Street and North Arrowhead Avenue.

Reports indicate the man was briefly knocked unconscious and awoke before emergency personnel arrived.

The man who has not yet been identified was stopped at a light when a driver of a SUV collided into the back end of his vehicle sending his vehicle into the intersection. The driver of the other vehicle was cited for reckless driving. It is estimated the driver of the SUV was driving around 35 MPH at the time of the impact.  There were no skid marks indicating the driver of the SUV was not paying attention when the two vehicles collided.

The man driving the Camry was taken to the Community Hospital of San Bernardino with whiplash, fractured ribs, a fractured shoulder and minor cuts and bruises. The other driver sustained minor injuries.

Traffic coming North on Arrowhead Avenue was delayed for about 30 minutes while clean-up crews and emergency vehicles attended to the crash.

There are no other reports on the accident at this time.

New Rochelle Accident
