In the News:

An accident in Lubbock, TX injures one when a motorcyclist collided into a car between the intersections of route 62 and route 84. A motorcycle riding on route 62 was said to be traveling over the speed limit and wasn’t able to slow down before colliding into a 4 door sedan.

A pedestrian that witnessed the accident said the motorcyclist seemed to try to slow down after seeing the light had turned red but wasn’t able to stop quick enough. As a result the motorcycle collided into the right side of a sedan sending the cyclist over the hood of the car.

Emergency units were called to the scene of the accident. The driver of the sedan was not injured in the accident. The motorcyclist was said to have minor injuries.

Reports indicated the accident could have been a lot worse but because the motorcyclist decelerated prior to colliding into the automobile,  and the rider was wearing a helmet, only minor injuries resulted from the accident.

After assessing the scene and interviewing both the driver of the sedan and the motorcyclist, reports indicate that alcohol and drugs was not a result of the accident.

There are no further reports on the accident.

The family decided to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Columbia and a bus driver. According to the suit, Michael Heaston collided with a city bus and died one day after the accident.

The lawsuit alleges the bus driver attempted to make a turn into an eastbound lane and didn’t see the Heaston. It also indicates that Heaston tried to swerve out of the way before colliding into the side of the bus. The victim ended up underneath the bus until emergency units arrived. The lawsuit accuses the bus driver of failing to avoid the collision. The suit claims the driver acted in a negligence manner because he wasn’t paying attention to the road at the time the accident occurred.
