Atlanta, Georgia Construction Accident - Atlanta Botanical Gardens

What was suppose to be a happy occasion turned out a disaster when a walkway collapsed killing 1 construction worker and injuring 18 others at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. According to reports construction crews were pouring concrete for a walkway when it collapsed, dropping workers some 40 feet to the ground. The workers were completing construction on the walkway through the Gardens.

11 of the workers were hospitalized and seven are in intensive care. The injured workers were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with various injuries. Some of the men suffered serious head and spinal injuries as a result of the fall.

66-year-old Angel Chupin of Marietta, Georgia was killed in the accident.

It is expected that OSHA will provide a thorough investigation of how the accident occurred.
