A car accident in Polk City, FL turns deadly when one person was killed and 5 others were rushed to a local hospital in Polk County. The accident which occurred on State Road 33 on Saturday, turned deadly when a 2004 Volkswagen and a passenger van collided.
Local officials say the driver of the Volkswagen drove onto the shoulder of the road and lost control of her car. As a result the car spun into the southbound lane hitting the van. The driver of the car has been identified as 47 year old Rebecca Barner from Groveland, Florida. Mrs. Barner was traveling with a passenger who has been identified as 35 year old, Irmarilis Rosario. Barner was pronounced dead shortly after the accident. Mrs. Rosario was seriously injured.
The four people in the van were transported to a local hospital for observation. According to reports the four passengers sustained minor injuries.
