In the News:
A group of 200 personal injury lawyers met on Wednesday to have discussions about forming a class action lawsuit against BP, Cameron, Transocean and Halliburton. The meeting that took place was to discuss combining their pending lawsuits to form a class action lawsuit.
There are more than 70 lawsuits currently pending in various courts throughout the gulf coast states. By combining the pending lawsuits into a class action suit, attorneys believe it will speed up the process and a trial could be over in 90 days. The lead attorney in the suit plans to request a summary judgment of the case in favor of property and business owners that were negatively affected by the oil spill.
The incident has become an environmental nightmare as Oil continues to flow into the gulf. The oil spill threatens to destroy marine, coastal and estuarine environments along the gulf. A containment dome which was assembled in less than a few days is being lowered into the Gulf of Mexico in an effort to contain the oil leaking out of the Horizon rig. The trouble for the companies involved in the oil spill is mounting as the oil leak is located some 5,000 feet below the surface. The process of containing the leak is not 100% and could result in an environmental disaster.
The projected damages of the oil spill are mounting each day. It is projected that the oil spill could cost business and property owners hundreds of millions of dollars.
Please Note: Pre settlement funding is non-recourse. This means if you obtain a lawsuit loan against your pending lawsuit, you only need to repay the lawsuit cash advance if you are successful in obtaining compensation for your claim. If you are a plaintiff in the Gulf coast oil spill or an attorney searching for litigation financing we can help.
