Kansas City Wrongful Death Suit

The family of volunteer firefighter Jared Moore has accepted a settlement for a wrongful death case filed in Kansas City several years ago. Mr. Moore was killed responding to a call when a Kansas Highway Patrol officer slammed into the car of Mr. Moore. The deputy was reported to going 85 MPH in a posted 50 MPH speed limit.

The car was rear-ended as Mr. Moore was turning left around oncoming traffic. Kansas has a policy that officers are not allowed to go over 10 MPH over the speed limit even in emergency situations. The amount of settlement has not been reported however sources say a settlement has been reached.
