Continental Airline Accident Injures 40

The National Transportation Safety Board was on scene for an airline accident taking off from Denver on Saturday night. A Continental Airlines jet went off the runway during take off. The Continental Flight 1404 was taking off from Denver International and heading to Houston. There were 112 passengers that were on board a Boeing 737. The plane was carrying five crew members and 107 passengers according to Continental spokeswoman Mary Clark.
According to reports passengers were evacuated by emergency slides as the airplane burned. An estimated 40 passengers suffered injuries resulting from the accident & the evacuation of the plane. The entire right side of the airplane was burning before ground crews were able to put the fire out.
While there were no deaths reported, 38 people were taking to local hospitals for medical evaluations and treatment.
There are no further reports at this time however the accident is still under investigation.
Texas Car Accident Leaves One Dead
According to reports one man dead after his car struck an 18-wheeler tractor trailer this morning in Travis County, Texas. The driver of the car, Michael Macias hit the tractor trailer head on when he tried to pass another vehicle in a no pass zone. Macias was driving a 4 door sedan heading North when the accident occurred.
Immediately both the sedan and the truck caught on fire upon impact. The driver of the truck was able to escape with minor damages. As a result of the accident Macias was killed and his body taken to a local Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
There are no further reports on the condition of the truck driver and the accident is still under investigation at this time. There were major delays this morning due to the wreck.
