Drivers faced delays on I-64 (Hampton Roads Beltway) just outside of Chesapeake, Virginia due to an overturned vehicle. The east right lane was closed for more than an hour to clear the vehicle and debris from the side of the road. The accident caused major delays on both sides coming into and out of the city.
According to the most recent report the crash was so forceful that it turned one vehicle onto its side. A car with two occupants was allegedly speeding down interstate 64 when the vehicle spun out of control, hit another vehicle before flipping.
The male driver and female passenger of the car were severely injured and were immediately transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The driver of the vehicle which hit was also transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
Reports indicate that both the passenger and driver of the car which overturned are expected to survive however the severity of the injuries is still unknown.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. There are no additional reports at this time.

An accident in Portsmouth, VA injures 2 people, a driver and passenger. The accident occurred on the cross street of High Street and Crawford street around 2 p.m. A pedestrian standing on the corner of Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and Museum said a car heading southbound on Crawford street ran a red light and collided into an SUV. This is the second traffic collision at the intersection of High Street and Crawford.
According to reports out of Portsmouth a driver of a 4 door sedan and passenger were injured. Although the injures are reported as minor, both were taken to a nearby hospital for observation. While the driver of the SUV indicated he was using his cell phone, whether he was talking or texting on the cell phone is still unclear. The driver of the SUV was not hurt in the accident.
It is still unclear of why the motorist went through the red light, however alcohol or drugs were not reported as the reason.

Richmond Car Accident
A car accident which occurred today in Richmond, Virginia caused a slight back up on Route 95N heading towards the city. Virginia Automobile Accident
An automobile accident in Virginia resulted in a severe injury over the weekend. Edward W. Giman was airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center after he crossed over the left handle lane near a local middle school. According to reports, Mr. Gilman lost control of his automobile and went over an embankment. Mr. Gilman was immediately ejected from the car because he was not wearing a seat belt.
The cause of the accident is believed to be excessive speeding while crossing lanes. It has been determined alcohol is not related to the accident.

Mr. Gilman is in critical condition at the University of Virginia medical center. The 12-year-old boy, also taken to the hospital, was alert and responding. He was also taken to the hospital for further medical attention.
